About
Kladovo and 22 other settlements compose Kladovo Municipality located in the Eastern part of Serbia and occupying around 63.000 ha. The Danube is the boundary in the East and North-East, not only for Kladovo Municipality, but it also represents a boundary between Serbia and Romania. The river of Slatina and the mountain Miroc are the boundaries with the neighboring municipalities Negotin i Majdanpek.
Kladovo is inevitably connected to the Iron Gate, the biggest and most beautiful gorge in Europe. This region is also marked by the Hydroelectric Power Plant Đerdap, one of the most important producer of hydroelectric power and just as important navigation system which managed to tame the Danube. However, if we search for the very beginning, we would definitely start from Lepenski Vir and its more than 8000 year old civilization, the discovery of which changed the history books. From then up to now, there basically has not been a civilization that did not settle here also. We are talking here about the Argonauts, the Celts, the Slavs, the Turks…about many explored and unexplored civilizations that lived at this location and left numerous traces of their culture, art and crafts. Today, Kladovo is a small town at the very East of Serbia, which is more and more visited by tourists eager to discover the beauties of this region, to feel the magic of the intact, the power of the Danube and hospitality of the locals.
During Blue Week, TO Kladovo organizes Bike Fest in coordination with Drobeta-Turnu Severin on the other side of the Danube.
